fast compression of 8 bit MeerKAT/SKA data

Question

A C/C++ library for compressing MeerKAT/SKA radio data is needed. It must be fast enough to compress the incoming data on-the-fly. The data values are 1-dimensional unsigned 8 bit integers.

Comments

I tried to compress MeerKAT data with ZIP, but with 30 MB/s, it is much too slow. We need something that is 100 times faster.
